The diverse student body and rigorous curriculum will stretch you to be your best, and prepare you to lead your organization to success in the 21st Century.<\/p>\n<p>Fujitsu Limited established the Fujitsu Scholarship Program in 1985 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its founding. The aim was to provide the opportunity for people from the Asia-Pacific region to contribute to the region through studying different values, cultures, and global business. This has been a Fujitsu\u2019s key initiative for deepening the relationships between the countries and citizens of the Asia-Pacific region. This scholarship has since enabled 420 professionals from 18 countries to study cross-cultural\u00a0management\u00a0at\u00a0<strong>JAIMS, the Japan-America Institute of Management Science, in Hawaii, U.S.A<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Fujitsu Scholarship provides full financial assistance for\u00a0postgraduate\u00a0education and cross-cultural management training in the East-West Knowledge Leaders Program (EWKLP) at JAIMS. The EWKLP has a three-month curriculum, which synthesizes the best practices of both the East and West. The participants will sharpen their global management knowledge and skills, and build the confidence necessary for success in global business situations. Selected Fujitsu Scholar will attend the EWKLP beginning in April 2012, followed by a week-long Japan Portion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><br \/>\nTo apply for the Fujitsu Scholarship, you must meet the qualifications for both Fujitsu Scholarship and EWKLP as follows.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Education<\/strong><br \/>\nA bachelor\u2019s degree or a degree equivalent to a four-year standard baccalaureate degree in any discipline from a regionally or nationally accredited institution<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. G.P.A.<\/strong><br \/>\nCumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Experience<\/strong><br \/>\nA minimum of three years of relevant full-time work experience (five years preferred) at the time of application<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Language<\/strong><br \/>\nA minimum TOEFL score of 577\/233\/90 (paper\/computer\/Internet), TOEIC score of 750, or IELTS overall band test result of 6.5 or higher from tests taken between December 2009 and November 2011.<\/p>\n<p>The following applicants are exempt from submitting an English proficiency test score:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants whose native language is English and who are from either the United States, Australia,United Kingdom,\u00a0New Zealand, Canada, or Singapore.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants who hold a bachelor\u2019s or advanced degree within the last five years from an accredited or recognized college or university in the United States, Australia,\u00a0United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada, or Singapore.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>5. Country<\/strong><br \/>\nApplicants must be a resident of the state of Hawaii, U.S.A., or a citizen of one of the following countries:\u00a0<em>Australia, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the\u00a0Philippines, Singapore,\u00a0South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, or\u00a0<strong>Vietnam<\/strong><\/em><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants who are residents of the State of Hawaii will be requested to prove Hawaii residency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Scholarship benefits and conditions<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Benefits<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Fujitsu Scholarship benefits include tuition and fees for the EWKLP program. Other benefits, which vary in amount each year, are also included.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tuition and Fees for the EWKLP<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Stipend Toward Living Expenses *<\/strong><br \/>\n*Applicants from the following countries\/areas are not eligible to receive the monthly stipend: Australia, Hawaii, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Airfare:<\/strong><br \/>\nFujitsu Ltd. will provide a round-trip air ticket to cover\u00a0transportation\u00a0from the participant\u2019s home country to Honolulu, and back. The selection of the air carrier and travel agent, including itinerary, is at the discretion of Fujitsu Ltd. In the event the participant wishes to change and\/or expand the route and\/or the period of stay, Fujitsu Ltd. reserves the right to withhold the original ticket.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Health Insurance:<\/strong><br \/>\nFujitsu Ltd. will provide medical insurance that covers a portion of the participant\u2019s medical expenses during the program period. The participant pays all medical expenses not covered by the medical insurance. The selection of the medical insurance plan is at the discretion of Fujitsu Ltd.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Housing Arrangements:<\/strong><br \/>\nJAIMS will assist in locating appropriate housing in Honolulu for all participants. Fujitsu Ltd. will provide and pay for participant accommodations in Japan.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Visa Arrangements:<\/strong><br \/>\nWhen applicable, participants will be assisted in obtaining the F-1 Student visa to enter the U.S. EWKLP participants will be assisted with the appropriate visa to enter Japan, if necessary. The expense of obtaining the visa is the financial responsibility of the participant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Conditions<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Fujitsu Scholarship is offered with the expectation that the following conditions will be met by the recipients.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scholarship Report<\/strong><br \/>\nUpon EWKLP completion, all participants must submit a formal report that describes their learning experiences during the program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Absence During the Fujitsu Scholarship Period<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Should an emergency occur that requires travel to the participant\u2019s home country, such travel shall be the participant\u2019s personal expense. For the period of absence, the stipend will be prorated and subtracted from the applicable amount(s) set forth in the stipend toward living expenses.<\/li>\n<li>All requests for absence should be submitted in writing to Fujitsu Ltd. (through JAIMS while in Hawaii) in advance, and should be addressed to the Fujitsu Scholarship Program in Japan.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Fujitsu Scholarship Termination<\/strong><br \/>\nAll selected scholars are required to participate in good faith, work diligently, and complete the EWKLP during the program period. Selected Fujitsu Scholars must understand and agree that any serious misconduct in this regard shall warrant immediate termination of the Fujitsu Scholarship without notice and at Fujitsu\u2019s sole discretion. The following are some examples of misconduct that could result in such termination:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Absence from or failure to complete the EWKLP without Fujitsu\u2019s or JAIMS\u2019 permission.<\/li>\n<li>Noncompliance with the regulations, policies, and other instructions of Fujitsu and\/or JAIMS.<\/li>\n<li>Immoral, disorderly, indecent, or violent conduct.<\/li>\n<li>Falsification of, or misstatement in any student or program application or other records and\/or at any interview.<\/li>\n<li>Failure to maintain good academic standing; unsatisfactory work performance.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If Fujitsu terminates the Fujitsu Scholarship for the participant pursuant to the above, the participant shall return to his\/her home country immediately. The participant shall inform Fujitsu and\/or JAIMS in advance of the date of his\/her return and the address and phone number in his\/her home country after return. The participant agrees that, effective as of the termination date, Fujitsu shall have no obligation to pay or provide anything under the Fujitsu Scholarship to the participant. Nonetheless, Fujitsu may at its sole discretion provide the participant with the appropriate air ticket for his\/her return.<\/p>\n<p>The participant agrees that if his\/her conduct which has resulted in termination of the Fujitsu Scholarship pursuant to the above, in Fujitsu\u2019s sole judgment, was made fraudulently, with malice or conscious disregard or otherwise in bad faith, the participant shall, upon Fujitsu\u2019s request, immediately refund all the benefits and awards paid by Fujitsu and\/or JAIMS hereunder to, or on behalf of him\/her, to the date of the termination.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Process<\/strong><br \/>\n1. A key factor is the individual\u2019s commitment to contributing to the mutual understanding and cooperation between countries and to the development of his\/her home country.
