Whenever I start preparing for something (exams for example), I search online for the most effective textbooks. I prioritize the textbooks that people who succeed have used and recommended. It does not mean that we should not look at other textbooks, but try these first to save time. I apply this strategy to my preparation for SAT I, and luckily I succeeded and did not have to try additional textbooks.\u00a0Here are the only three textbooks that I used for studying for SAT I.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Remember that there are two types of materials that you will work primarily with while preparing for SAT I: textbooks and workbooks<\/strong>. Textbooks are used to learn all stuff needed for the exam, while workbooks are used to practice and practice.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This textbook provides diverse reading strategies and knowledge<\/strong> so that you can understand how reading questions in SAT I are created to test your abilities. After reading this book, you understand what causes an answer to be correct or wrong<\/strong>. Because reading is a skill, this textbook is not designed for you to read once. You will need this textbook even after finishing reading it. To be specific, your plan<\/strong> should be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Read this textbook really, really carefully (do not skip any words, even the forewords) and do the exercises in it.<\/li>
  2. Apply the knowledge and strategies you have learned to workbooks and mock exams.<\/li>

      To be honest, you cannot do well in this section by only reading this textbook. Before reading it, you need to master basic grammar and phrases<\/strong>. This book aims only to summarize what will be tested in the exam and remind you of the popular traps. The plan for this textbook is the same as The Critical Reader<\/em>. Just remember to review this textbook multiple times<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      For Asian students, the math section is quite easy. If you have learned math quite well at school, you only need to read this textbook to review your knowledge. Depending on your educational background, you may find some parts unfamiliar<\/strong>, but you will learn them well in this textbook. A reminder is that this textbook provides many interesting strategies, but I do not use them much because I find the strategies I learn at school more convenient<\/strong>. I think for math, understanding the materials is not difficult, but you should pay attention to the traps<\/strong> students have fallen into which have been summarized in this textbook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t worry that some textbooks touch on some stuff that is not covered in these textbooks because your purpose is not to know more but to know what is tested<\/strong>. Therefore, save time and be practical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
